Frequently Asked Questions
Are my donations tax deductable?
We have applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and expect to receive IRS approval in early 2026. Once approved, all donations will be tax-deductible retroactively from our date of incorporation. You'll receive documentation for your tax records as soon as our approval is confirmed. We're confident in our approval, but recommend consulting your tax advisor if you have specific questions about deductibility.
Can I suggest how my donation is spent?
While we can't guarantee specific designations, we welcome your input. When you donate, feel free to include a note about what matters most to you—whether it's tee box improvements, local outreach programs, equipment upgrades, or general course maintenance. Our Board considers donor priorities when making budget decisions, though all funds ultimately support our mission to preserve and maintain the golf course.
Are there other ways to help besides donating money?
Absolutely! We need volunteers for work days to help with weeding, trimming, cleaning, and light maintenance around the clubhouse and course. We also welcome in-kind donations of equipment, supplies, or services. If you have professional skills (marketing, accounting, legal, construction, landscaping) that could benefit the course, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us to learn about current volunteer opportunities and needs.
What's the difference between donating to North Coast Preservation Society and paying for a golf membership?
Great question! Donations to the North Coast Preservation Society (the nonprofit) support the long-term preservation and improvement of the course but do NOT include playing privileges. For golf memberships, green fees, and tee times, you'll work directly with North Coast Links, LLC, the entity that operates the course. Think of donations as supporting the mission; memberships as supporting your play.
How do I know my donation is making a difference?
Transparency matters to us. All donors receive updates on how funds are being used. Through quarterly and annual email updates, you'll see exactly where your money goes—new equipment, course improvements, maintenance projects, and youth programs.
Can I donate in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. Please include the honoree's name and any notification preferences when you send your donation, and we'll acknowledge your gift appropriately.
